The Cupertino giant launched both MacBook Pro models with its New M2 Pro & M2 Max processors and the Mac Mini with M2 & M2 Pro SoCs. Let us take a look at Apple’s New M2 Pro & M2 Max processors.
Apple M2 Pro & M2 Max Processors
M2 Pro is built on a 5nm architecture and has 40 Billion transistors which is nearly 20 percent more than the M1 Pro and double the amount of M2. M2 Pro consists of up to 8 high-performance cores & 4 high-efficiency cores. It is also said to feature a faster 16-core Neural Engine and the company’s own Media Engine. As per apple, M2 Pro is 20% faster than the 10-cores CPU in M1 Pro. The M2 Pro features up to 12-core CPU and up to 19-core GPU and supports up to 32GB of storage. As for its bigger sibling, the M2 Max is the bumped-up version of the M2 Pro, consisting of up to 38 cores of GPU and up to 1TB of storage. It is said to be 30% faster than the M1 Max when it comes to graphics performance. M2 Max also comes with the faster 16-core Neural Engine and the company’s own Media Engine with hardware-accelerated HEVC, H.264, and ProRes encode & decode. Customers have the option to choose between the 10-cores or 12-cores configurations. Now coming to the MacBook Pro 14 & 16 Pro specifications.

Before we begin, let’s get the usual out of the way; MacBook Pro comes in two different screen sizes just like the Air, i.e., MacBook Pro 14 inches & 16 inches. So the Macbook 14 features a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina display XDR with a 3024×1964 resolution, whereas the 16-inch has a 3456×2234 resolution. It comes with a 120hz refresh rate, and the display is 100% P3 color gamut & has a 1000 nits brightness. Both the Macbooks run on macOS Ventura out of the box. As for the ports, Both the 14 & 16-inch Macbook Pro features three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC card, HDMI video output, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There’s also a 1080p webcam, a six-speaker sound system, and support for WiFI 6E. Also, there’s support for 8K displays, which is the first for MacBooks. As per Apple, the Macbook Pro models will offer up to 22 hours of battery life, the longest battery life in any MacBook and according to the configuration, users choose the Macbook Pro offers 67W, 96W, and 140W USB Type C charging with a detachable Magsafe 3 cable. The 14-inch Pro model is 15.5mm thick and weighs up to 1.63kg, whereas the 16-inch Pro model is 16.8mm thick & weighs up to 2.18 kg.

MacBook Pro 14 with M2 Pro chipset (10 cores) starts at ₹1,99,999 / $1,999 for the base variant. MacBook Pro 16 with M2 Pro chipset (12 cores) starts at ₹2,49,999 / $2,499 for the base variant. Both models are available for pre-order and will be available from January 24th. Moving on to the Mac Mini.
Mac Mini M2 & Mac Mini M2 Pro
Well, the Mac Mini comes equipped with New Apple Silicon, i.e., M2 & M2 Pro. The M2 Mac Mini features an 8-core CPU with four high-performance cores & four high-efficiency cores, and a 10-core GPU. It supports up to 24GB of RAM & up to 2TB of storage and supports 100GBPS memory bandwidth. The New M2 Pro Mac Mini comes with up to 12 cores CPU with eight high-performance cores & four high-efficiency cores, and up to 19 cores GPU. It supports up to 32GB RAM & supports memory bandwidth 200gbps. It runs on macOS Ventura out of the box! Onto the ports – Both the Mac Mini with M2 & M2 Pro offers support for numerous ports like two USB A ports, HDMI Video output, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports on M2 & four Thunderbolts 4 ports on the M2 Pro Mac Mini. Also, the base M2 Mac mini supports two displays, and the M2 Pro supports up to three displays. Just like MacBook Pro, the Mac mini also gets the support for an 8K display! Also, it supports WiFi 6E & Bluetooth 5.3 and weighs up to 1.28kg. Apple with the launch of the New Mac Mini. The company has discontinued the previous Intel-powered Mac Mini.
